spraying UPVC windows in Longridge just this week. The homeowners had been referred to us by their friends for whom we had sprayed a set of bifolding doors last year.We completed this job
There were 17 UPVC windows and 2 composite doors in brown (golden oak) to spray. They were all relatively new and in excellent condition and so it made financial sense to have them sprayed rather than replace with new.
The customers chose a colour called Celestial Blue from the Little Greene range.
Following our normal UPVC spray painting process we first removed the opening windows. This allows us to thoroughly clean these units and the frame behind plus ensure that no paint gets on the inner frame and hinges.
We then masked up the glass, openings into rooms and surrounding render. The same procedure was applied to the composite doors.
We use a specialist UPVC paint from HMG Paints in Manchester. This is very abrasion resistant. It is also flexible to enable it to cope with variations in temperature and expansion/contraction of the plastic surfaces. It also contains UV protection additives to help protect against excessive fading. We spray a fine dust coat followed by 2 full coats to achieve a smooth, level finish.
The paint becomes touch dry very quickly but we normally leave it between 30 to 45 minutes before removing all the masking tape and paper. We request that the windows and doors be left slightly ajar for the rest of the day to ensure complete drying and prevent sticking. It takes up to 7 days for the coating to cure fully.
When first sprayed the Celestial Blue looked quite bright but it dried to a darker and duskier shade which suited the cottage perfectly.
“We are delighted with the transformation that having our upvc windows and doors painted has made. Mark and his team were so professional and completed the whole house of sixteen windows and two doors in just two days. The finish is faultless and a perfect match to our chosen colour. We would not hesitate to recommend Fine Finish to anyone thinking of using them, they surpassed our expectations, a quality product and excellent service.”
